ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

Located directly off the 417 highway, 20 minutes South East of downtown Ottawa, Anderson Links Golf and Country Club opened on July 2nd, 2007 with 18 holes. The new south nine at Anderson Links opened May 12th, 2012. The golf course was designed by Canadian golfer and architect, Graham Cooke. The Club hosts many tournaments and events, big and small, in the large, modern clubhouse. We are looking for a driven self starter, passionate and dedicated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent who is eager to grow and to lead our Turf Management Department. The successful candidate's role will continue to increase as the operation grows.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day to day scheduling of maintenance operation.
  • Completion of work assignments and follow ups.
  • Effectively lead and schedule staff to ensure quality golf course conditions.
  • Assist in fertilizer/PCP applications including calibrations and documentation.
  • Assist in proper employee training techniques and keeping a safe workplace.
  • Health and Safety Committee oversight.
  • Must be willing to work discretionary hours during the week, weekends and holidays.
  • Capacity to perform irrigation repairs, daily scheduling and installations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, and train staff to work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to assist the Superintendent with hiring and training new staff as well as scheduling and supervising staff members.
  • IPM scouting and data submission and report in a timely fashion.
  • Must maintain and possess a current MOE Pesticide License and IPM Agent certification

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • IPM Agent (or capacity to obtain within 120 days of employment)
  • Ontario Landscape Exterminators License (or capacity to obtain within 120 days of employment)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Turf grass related experience preferred
  • Degree or Diploma in Turfgrass Management preferred
  • Experience with Rainbird irrigation systems as well as capability to troubleshoot and resolve irrigation issues an asset
  • Proficient computer use
  • Chainsaw License preferred
  • Self Motivated, Detailed, Organized, Excellent Communicator and Leads by Example
  • Understanding of budgets, responsible operational spending and proper inventory controls
  • Attention to detail and housekeeping

 

COMPENSATION:
Will commensurate with qualifications.
